Sudan’s Sovereignty Council Chairman and army commander Abdel Fattah al-Burhan visited the 11th Infantry Division in Khashm el-Girba, Kassala State, to review its operations and military preparedness. The visit included discussions with commanders and an inspection of several units.

Command briefing on operations

Division commander Major General Adil Sabdarat briefed Burhan on the responsibilities, ongoing activities and operational readiness of the formation. According to Sudanese military accounts, the visit was intended to assess the work of the division and review conditions within its area of responsibility.

Meetings with personnel

Burhan toured facilities and met officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers. The published account of the inspection did not announce new troop deployments or identify a new military operation. The discussions focused on the formation’s current tasks and readiness.

Inspection amid continuing conflict

Sudan’s war between the national army and the Rapid Support Forces has continued since April 2023 and has damaged infrastructure across large parts of the country. Military readiness and logistics remain priorities for the army command. The Kassala visit was reported as an inspection rather than the launch of a new campaign, and no further operational outcome was announced.
