Türkiye has renewed its diplomatic commitment to Sudan following the official accreditation of its newly appointed ambassador, Fahri Türker Oba, during a ceremony attended by senior Sudanese officials in Khartoum.
General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of Sudan's Sovereignty Council and Commander of the Armed Forces, received Ambassador Oba's credentials at the Republican Palace.
Sudanese Foreign Minister Mohieddin Salem was also present during the ceremony, which marked another step in maintaining bilateral diplomatic engagement amid the country's continuing conflict.
Turkish envoy outlines Ankara's position
Speaking after the presentation, Ambassador Oba reaffirmed Türkiye's support for Sudan's sovereignty, national unity and territorial integrity.
He emphasized that Ankara remains committed to supporting Sudan during its current challenges, placing particular importance on humanitarian needs and cooperation with the Sudanese government.
The ambassador identified alleviating the suffering of Sudanese civilians as a central priority and expressed Türkiye's readiness to provide broad assistance across different sectors.
Humanitarian challenges remain central
The accreditation comes as Sudan continues to experience the consequences of the armed conflict that began in April 2023.
Prolonged fighting has placed considerable pressure on essential services and humanitarian conditions, increasing the importance of diplomatic engagement and international assistance.
Türkiye has maintained its position in favour of Sudan's unity and territorial integrity while emphasizing the need to address the humanitarian consequences of the conflict.
Diplomatic engagement between Ankara and Khartoum
The appointment of Ambassador Oba represents continuity in Türkiye's diplomatic representation in Sudan and reinforces the longstanding relationship between the two countries.
Historical ties, political dialogue and humanitarian cooperation remain important components of their bilateral partnership.
The ceremony in Khartoum highlighted Ankara's intention to sustain close communication with Sudanese authorities while continuing its support for the country's sovereignty and stability.
