The University of Lake Chad received two new student buses at a handover ceremony on October 7, 2026. The vehicles are intended to improve campus access and reduce transportation difficulties for students.
Call for sustainable management
Ndjilema Mitterand, secretary-general of Lac province and representative of the government delegate, stressed the importance of managing the buses carefully so that they remain useful to the university community. The handover ended with the vehicles making a symbolic departure.
University originally requested four
University president Professor Dadoum Djeko Magloire thanked the authorities for the support but said the university had originally requested four buses and received two. He described the handover as a useful first step while emphasizing the need for additional transportation.
Other student facilities requested
The university also called for a campus restaurant and healthcare service for students arriving from different provinces. Officials stressed that transport and basic student services were important to improving conditions at the institution. No detailed timetable was provided for additional buses or new facilities.
